From Creator of "Cephas" |

Projects are born like children. Sometimes you are expecting for a boy, but there is a girl. After musical "Bartimaeus" we planned to work over "Cephas", but we have "Esxodus", then "The Depths of God", a remix of " The Torn Veil" and finally "Cephas" is being birthed two years later. Here, in New Generation we have a tradition - there has to be a surprise for the anniversary of the church. What is celebration without gifts? I am sure that this celebration will not break the traditions. By my calling I am not a musican, not even a producer; I am a pastor, a preacher. My task as of any other minister is to knock to the hearts of people and to get them to know God. I am always puzzled with the question: do people understand me, and if not then something is wrong with me. That is why in New Generation we often use an untraditional range of expressive means. The language of the church pulpit is enriched by the language of theater, dance, and movies. This way we become understandable to everybody - to teenagers, and to elder people, to politicians, and to housewives. Probably in such a combination there is a universal language of enlightenment and preaching the Gospel. It is my deepest belief that the art for art's sake is hypocrisy and knavery. The genuine art is the art for the sake of man's salvation. "Cephas" is a sermon. It reflects the most touching and moving events of the Gospel, namely the dramatic story of a man's failure and return to his calling. The problem of backsliding is one of the most burning ones in the contemporary society. Someone comes and someone goes away. Politicians fail the interests of the people. Talents are exchanged for money. Husbands leave their wives, ministers leave the church. My prayer is for this message to touch the heart of each backslider. And if "Cephas" helps though one soul to return to their calling, I will be the most happy person. A.Ledjaev |
